Manchester City midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne has been named the Premier League player of the 2019/20 season.

Manchester City may have lost their Premier League title in the 2019/20 but their maestro, De Bruyne has picked up a top individual accolade.

De Bruyne has won the prize beating Liverpool’s star Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane. The 29-year-old has also beaten right-back Trent Alexander Arnold, Leicester’s striker Jamie Vardy, Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, and Southampton frontman Danny Ings to the prize.

The Belgian scored 13 goals and provided 20 assists in what has been a stunning Premier League campaign amid football suspension due to coronavirus outbreak.

The result could however be viewed as a surprise as City lost their status as English Champions to Liverpool who wrapped up the title with seven games to spare. De Bruyne and co concluded the season with 17 points behind the Reds.

However, this has been De Bruyne’s most productive campaign since joining City in 2015. His haul of 200 assists equaled the league record set by Thierry Henry in 2003 and his 13 goals helped City become the division’s top scorers for a third successive season.

Moreover, Liverpool has as well tasted success. With regards to the Young Player of the Season award, which went to the 21-year-old Alexander Arnold and Klopp scooping Manager of the Season award.
