Keylor Navas will have to pay for a spot on the bench as Donnarumma will be trusted to start most games.

What did Christophe say about Keylor Navas?

New PSG manager Christophe Galtier has told the Costa Rican player that he will be second choice goalkeeper for the 2022-23 season. Keylor Navas retained a key role in the first team last season, sharing duties with Gianluigi Donnarumma. But Christophe has decided to make the Italian the stopper of his undisputed first choice after he got the better of Pochettino this summer. The head coach admits the transition could be difficult as both goalkeepers have the quality to start for most clubs.

Christophe Galtier says he expects the Costa Rica international to be disappointed after being told he fell off the order, but expects the player to give everything for the club. After his side beat the Urawa Red Diamonds in a pre-season friendly, the new manager said he was very clear with goaltenders at the start of the season, preferring to operate with a hierarchy at the start of the season.

According to Christophe Galtier, Keylor Navas knows what he expects from him as the second. Even if Christophe knows that deep inside him there are many disappointments. Galtier says it is very important for a club like Paris Saint-Germain to have two very good goalkeepers.

Keylor Navas achievement at PSG

The Costa Rica international joined Real Madrid’s Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and has made 106 appearances for the club in all competitions. Keylor Navas were expected to lose their place in the starting XI once Gianluigi joined from AC Milan last year. But Keylor, who has two years left on his contract, made 21 appearances in Ligue 1 last season while his Gianluigi Donnarumma was limited to 17. They also shared responsibility as the starting goalkeeper in the Champions League, with the Italian scoring five times in competition and Keylor playing three times.

Gianluigi was open about his own frustration with the situation, making it clear that he wanted to play every game. The Italy international said in April that he was here to be the No. 1 shirt owner… Gianluigi Donnarumma says he has a great relationship with Keylor Navas, but as he also said, it was not easy to experience this competition. Of course, everything must change.
