Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal together are called ‘Kulcha’ in Indian cricket circle. When they both bowled together, it was always a big trouble batsmen. Specially in Australia, they did an amazing job.
The two are good friends and have had a similar fate recently as they lost their place in the Indian white-ball team. But now ‘Kulcha’ is in form again in IPL 2022. The two wrist spinners are currently the most successful bowlers of the season. Friends off the field, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzi Chahal are in a tough fight for the Purple Cap, which is currently held by Rajasthan Royals’ Chahal, who has taken 18 wickets in eight matches.
On Thursday, Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav moved up to the second spot in the bowlers’ list with a 4/14 lead against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. He now has 17 wickets at a strike rate of 10.47 as compared to Chahal’s 10.65.
Delhi Capitals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets. After the match, Kuldeep said there was no competition or rivalry with Chahal. “He has encouraged me a lot. He has been like an elder brother and stood by me during my bad times. In my heart, I want him to win the Purple Cap because he has been bowling exceptionally well in the last four years,” Kuldeep said. Kuldeep said that the period in which he was struggling to take wickets has made him mentally strong.
“When you fail in life, you realize where you were wrong. When you figure it out, it makes you mentally stronger and you are no longer afraid of failure.” Kuldeep picked the wicket of Andre Russell as his favorite out of the four he got on Thursday. “I don’t get scared of failing now. I liked Russell’s wicket as I set him up, it was my plan and when there were a couple of dots I knew he would step out. This is the best IPL season for me. I am enjoying my bowling”, he further added.
There are still a number of matches left for the both players. As the IPL will progress further, surely, pitches will become more bowler friendly. They will get more purchase from the wicket so it will be an interesting brotherly competition between both two.
