Kylian Mbappe Embroiled in a Legal Dispute with the French Football Federation
Kylian Mbappe is entangled in a dispute with the French Football Federation (FFF) over image rights following his alleged refusal to participate in a sponsorship obligation.
Drawing from reports, it is said Kylian Mbappe declined to participate in the French Football Federation because he does not want his image tied with specific businesses.
For some years, the player’s agents have been at odds with the federation over the usage of his image, with no settlement in sight.
According to reports, the French national team’s sponsors ‘did not appreciate’ that probably the country’s biggest player declined to participate. Noel Le Graet, president of the FFF, attempted to sway Mbappe’s decision, but to no avail.
According to the player’s management, certain companies raise moral and ethical concerns, and the 23-year-image old’s rights will be donated exclusively to humanitarian organizations.
He is also dissatisfied with the terms of the 2010 agreement between the federation and its picked players about image rights.
At the time, following the World Cup catastrophe in South Africa, it was agreed that image rights would be split equally among the 23 players in each squad.
Mbappe, on the other hand, would like to see a greater portion of the team’s revenue directed toward grassroots football.
The FFF is thought to be deliberating their next move in response to Mbappe’s absence.
Le Graet, head of the French Football Federation, recently addressed Mbappe’s contract status at Paris Saint-Germain. His contract with the club is due to expire at the conclusion of the season, and he is widely expected to join Real Madrid.
Le Graet, on the other hand, believes it would be ‘better for French football’ if Mbappe remained in Ligue 1.
