Two consecutive home league wins by a one-goal margin show that Getafe are a match for anyone on their own patch, and even Real Madrid only scored once here this term.

Getafe

Getafe’s drama-filled bid to save their La Liga status continues to gather pace, as after netting an equaliser in the 16th minute of injury time against Cadiz last time out, they’ve now only lost one of their last six league matches. With their commitment to the cause beyond question, a win here against Sevilla would move them above their visitors and perhaps even out of the bottom three. Two consecutive home league wins by a one-goal margin show that Getafe are a match for anyone on their own patch, and even Real Madrid only scored once here this term. But they’ve recently found Sevilla a hard nut to crack, losing the last three H2Hs here ‘to nil’ and only winning one of the last six.

Sevilla

However, in all of those instances, Sevilla were inside the top ten, a far cry from this season’s campaign which sees them hovering just above the relegation zone with last weekend’s 2-1 win over lowly Almería their first in four La Liga attempts. A first bottom-half finish since relegation in 1999/00 remains a possibility, so domestically at least, this season has been a real struggle for Jorge Sampaoli’s side. Having just returned from a gruelling UEFA Europa League game in Turkey on Thursday, where Sevilla progressed to the quarter-finals despite a 1-0 defeat to Fenerbahce on the night, they’re racking up the air miles. Now without a league away win since mid-October, they might not welcome a swift return to Madrid either as they were hammered 6-1 by Atletico in their last away game in the league.

Borja Mayoral completed Getafe’s scoring in both of their last two home league games, while Sevilla’s Erik Lamela, who scored an injury-time winner in this fixture last term, has netted four of his last five goals after the 65th minute. Sevilla are yet to score between the 61st and 75th minute in away league action this term.
