This clash with Rayo Vallecano might also prove to be tough as Granada haven’t won an H2H anywhere since December 2013, losing three of those four meetings here ‘to nil’.

Granada

Granada sealed a first La Liga win in 11 matches when they beat struggling Alavés 3-2 (Mar 19) just prior to the international break to help move themselves further away from the drop zone. That win featured their opponents missing a penalty and some late-match scuffling, so it’s safe to say that new caretaker boss Ruben Torrecilla might have endured rather than enjoyed his first game in charge. This clash with Rayo Vallecano might also prove to be tough as Granada haven’t won an H2H anywhere since December 2013, losing three of those four meetings here ‘to nil’. In fact, Granada are yet to win a home league game this calendar year, scoring just twice during that run, with both goals coming after the 60th minute.

Rayo Vallecano

Vallecano might take inspiration from Granada as they also seek to avoid going 11 La Liga games without a win after dramatically losing their way following a flying start to the season. They remain out of the clutches of the bottom three for now but could really use a fast start in this match as they now haven’t scored a first-half goal across that ten-game winless sequence. That said, three of the last four H2Hs at this venue were goalless at the break, all of which Vallecano went on to win, so if ‘Los Franjirrojos’ start slowly again, they could still be in with a chance after half-time. With three of those games also featuring scoring after the 85th minute, fans of both sides should find any temptation to leave early easy to resist!

If there is to be a late goal, Granada’s Luis Suarez could grab it as his last two strikes have come after the 75th minute, while Bebe has netted each of Vallecano’s last two competitive goals. Vallecano are the only side yet to keep an away La Liga clean sheet this term.
