ArchiveLa Liga: Levante Vs Valencia – Match preview

A victory would at least end Levante’s run of 25 La Liga matches without a win (25) – the division’s worst-ever streak – and land them consecutive La Liga H2H wins for the first time since November 2014, after they pulled off a 1-0 victory here last season.

Levante

Struggling Levante are now only the third club to go winless across the opening 17 games of a La Liga campaign, so regardless of whatever way this ‘Derbi Valenciano’ against Valencia goes, they are destined to spend Christmas at the bottom of the table. A victory would at least end Levante’s run of 25 La Liga matches without a win (25) – the division’s worst-ever streak – and land them consecutive La Liga H2H wins for the first time since November 2014, after they pulled off a 1-0 victory here last season. To their credit, Levante have been stubborn at home, drawing six of their eight La Liga games on their own turf this season, despite failing to score in five. That’s mainly thanks to claiming three La Liga home clean sheets, more than nine other sides have managed ahead of this round.

Valencia

Last Christmas Valencia sat just one point above the relegation zone, but this year they’re doing something far more special – staying in the hunt for the European places as they look to break a two-year exile from continental action. A six-game unbeaten La Liga run has certainly brought some early festive cheer, and after winning their last two by a 2-1 scoreline, Valencia are on the cusp of winning three consecutive La Liga games for the first time since May 2019! The third win back then came on the road, and even if the visitors concede first it may not be game over as ahead of this round no side has won more points than Valencia after conceding the opener. That includes seven of their nine away points this La Liga campaign.

Jorge de Frutos has contributed to four of Levante’s last five La Liga goals, while Valencia will hope Goncalo Guedes gets on the scoresheet as three of his last four La Liga strikes have come in wins. Levante have conceded nine of their previous ten La Liga goals after half-time.
