A recent 3-2 home defeat to champions-elect Real Madrid was hugely disappointing, not least because Sevilla led 2-0 at the break, but it also ended a 13-game unbeaten run at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sevilla

A best La Liga finish since securing a place inside the top two back in 1956/57 could be on the cards for Sevilla after their 3-2 win over Levante brought them level on points with Barcelona. Now a result similar to this corresponding fixture last season (3-0) will push them closer to ousting the 26-time Spanish champions from second. A recent 3-2 home defeat to champions-elect Real Madrid was hugely disappointing, not least because Sevilla led 2-0 at the break, but it also ended a 13-game unbeaten run at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. That Real Madrid game was the first time Sevilla lost a home league fixture when scoring first this season, so they’ll be hoping there’ll be no repeat of that self-destruction again for the remainder of this campaign.

Cadiz

Cadiz scored twice after half-time last round, yet a 3-0 deficit at the break meant that it wasn’t enough for the relegation-threatened side to get anything from their clash against Athletic Bilbao. Coach Sergio and his men helped Sevilla by producing a shock 1-0 win away to Barcelona recently, but that was their only win across the last four games and anything short of three points here will leave them vulnerable to ending this round inside the bottom three. Based on their form, it is difficult to make a case for Cadiz to record consecutive away La Liga wins for the first time since 2020, particularly as they’re facing a side they have never beaten in a competitive away H2H. Sergio also has a pretty uninspiring personal record against Sevilla.

Lucas Ocampos contributed to three Sevilla goals across their last two domestic victories and scored the sole goal in the reverse fixture. For Cadiz, Lucas Perez scored his first two league goals for the club in his last two appearances. He also has two goals against Sevilla in his career, but he won neither game. Five of Sevilla’s last seven La Liga matches played on a Friday ended level.
