There is every suggestion that Sevilla can recover quickly from a shocking 4-0 loss to Villarreal (May 16), as they’ve won 55.56 per cent of their La Liga home games ‘to nil’ this season – by far the best such percentage in the league.

Sevilla

Fourth-placed Sevilla still have the opportunity to finish third in La Liga for the first time since 2008/09. But, of course, only a win gives them any chance, but they have been thwarted in three of their last four matches, reducing their win rate as La Liga match favourites to 68.97 per cent – albeit that’s still the league’s third-best rate. Nevertheless, there is every suggestion that Sevilla can recover quickly from a shocking 4-0 loss to Villarreal (May 16), as they’ve won 55.56 per cent of their La Liga home games ‘to nil’ this season – by far the best such percentage in the league. That said, just five (38.46 per cent) of their 13 La Liga home victories have been accompanied by an HT lead.

Alaves

Deportivo Alavés are already safe after four victories from their last seven matches. They recorded at least two goals in four of those seven games, opening the scoring in all but the one defeat. Taking on stronger opposition has proven difficult for Alavés, though, and their points per game average this La Liga season (1.03) deteriorates to just 0.79 if excluding results against the bottom four. The corresponding reduction in Alavés’ away fixtures alone is from 0.78 to just 0.57 points per game.

Youssef En-Nesyri has scored first in three of Sevilla’s last four La Liga home wins ‘to nil’. Meanwhile, Alavés striker Joselu is now one of 14 players to have scored in three consecutive La Liga matches this season. Four of his last five league goals have come before HT.

Seven of the last eight H2Hs have produced fewer than 2.5 total goals, although, despite that, just two of those eight featured a goalless first half.
