Lancashire vs Yorkshire

Richard Gleeson took two wickets in the 18th over and Lancashire saved 214 runs in a thrilling match that too by just four runs.

Tom Koehler-Cadmore scored 77 off 43 balls at number three and the Vikings scored 184 for four in the 17th over, losing three wickets in eight balls, with David Willey being caught by Gleason for 52. Luke Wood also conceded only four runs in the 19th over, allowing Danny Lamb to defend 17 in the last. The Yorkshire chase ended at 209 for eight as Lancashire – 213 for five – climbed to the top of the North group with a sixth win in seven matches. It was Yorkshire’s third defeat in seven.

Tim David scored 66 off 32 balls, including six sixes, to help Lancashire Lightning chase 200. Gave a start So far star Harry Brooke had joined England’s Test squad earlier than expected, so the middle order was a bit weak. Keaton Jennings (42) and second wicket partner Steven Croft (41) got off to a good start after Yorkshire captain Willey chose to bowl. But Yorkshire took three big wickets for eight runs in 14 balls and Lancashire were 100 for four in the 12th over.

However, as soon as Tim David caught the rhythm, the head made it rain fours and sixes. David hit three of his six sixes in the 18th over off Thompson – a huge over of 24 – as the team scored 183 for four. He reached his second half-century in 26 balls.

In the first over of Yorkshire’s chase, Malan was caught at long-off for a golden duck by Livingstone. Koehler-Cadmore and Adam Leith shared a partnership of 119 runs in just 9.1 overs.

Adam Lyth backed his teammate with 39 runs in just 18 balls – and the team were at 124 for three in the 10th over. And when Kohler-Cadmore lost his wicket to left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, Yorkshire were 152 for three in the 13th. With only 62 more needed, it seemed like the job was done.

Despite Willey reaching a half-century off 27 balls, Gleason took two crucial wickets in the 18th over and after 17.3 overs the score was 193 for seven. With Dominic Drakes on strike 5 runs were needed to win the match off the last ball and he would bring a shot to the deep backward point boundary but Tom Hartley took what was a commendable catch.
