Ireland posted a competitive score of 213 for eight in their stipulated 50 overs, with captain Gaby Lewis scoring 59 off 88 balls (8 fours), with South Africa giving an emphatic reply as the top-order batsmen, Steyn ( 84 * off 104 balls; 7 fours) and Goodall (93 * off 99 balls; 8 fours) chased the score of 213 with 68 balls to spare for the visitors.

South Africa won the toss and sent the hosts to bat, taking the customary opening wicket through Ismail as Ireland struggled early in the innings and added just 66 runs in the first 22 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Nadine de Klerk (2-31) and Raisibe Ntozakhe (1-35) gave Ireland early blows. Ismail took 3 wickets for 31 runs in 10 overs.
