Another option to replace Setien is Blanc.

Former France coach Laurent Blanc is one of the options that Barcelona is considering to replace Quique Setien this summer. The Spaniard’s role is in jeopardy after missing out on LaLiga. So the Catalans are looking at alternatives, especially if the club fails to land the Champions League. According to reports, Blanc is a target, with sporting director Eric Abidal supporting the move. The newspaper also claims that Blanc is very interested in the role after retiring from the game since 2016 when he left his position as coach of Paris Saint-Germain. Abidal knows Blanc well, worked with France between 2010 and 2012. And is familiar with his possession-based style of play that will suit Barcelona well.

Since leaving PSG, Blanc has rolled back several offers, including from Sevilla and Galatasaray in 2017, but at the age of 54 is keen to return to the game. Blanc would be willing to sign a one-year agreement and bring his assistant Frank Passi along with him. However, he is not the only candidate, as the French newspaper reports that Ronald Koeman is working and is the preferred target of the club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu.
