Liverpool starlet Leighton Clarkson has joined the Blackburn Rovers on a seasonal lease.

Clarkson follows in the footsteps of his partner

Leighton Clarkson trained with the Blackburn Rovers on Monday morning ahead of his official opening and is eager to test himself at first-team level after his preseason experience for the Reds. Leighton Clarkson is following in the footsteps of Liverpool teammate Elliott, who took a fortune on credit at Ewood Park last term and is expected to have the same impact as Tony Mowbray’s side fight for a promotion from the championship.

Tony Mowbray’s has been a fan of Leighton Clarkson for a while now, and his assistant coach Venus was in attendance to watch the teenage star for Liverpool in a 3-1 friendly win against Osasuna on August 9. Leighton grew up supporting Blackburn, born in Clitheroe, and the Reds have a strong relationship with the club following a deal with Harvey Elliott that showed they are adept when it comes to developing younger players.

A little about Leighton Clarkson

Leighton Clarkson graduated from Liverpool’s first squad in 2019 and made his club debut in a Champions League clash with Midtjylland last December. The talented midfielder also made an appearance in the Carabao Cup, earning valuable experience in the senior Klopp setup that kept him in good shape at the Under-23 level.

Leighton Clarkson has appeared in 14 Premier League 2 appearances for the club last term, recording three goals and three assists, and it was reported that some of Anfield’s coaches gave him the nickname Philipp Lahm due to the similarities in his playing style to former Germany and Bayern Munich. …

He also appeared in a 1-0 win for Liverpool over Mainz and a 4-3 defeat for Hertha Berlin in the preseason, but will now have to get used to the new environment at Blackburn in order to return to Merseyside next summer and fight for a spot with Jurgen Klopp.
