Paris Saint-Germain vs Lens

The Parisians have been on fire since the beginning of April with their 3-0 win away to Angers in midweek making it four consecutive Ligue 1 victories.

PSG

Paris Saint-Germain’s task is simple: win this one and they will be crowned French champions for the tenth time in their history! The Parisians have been on fire since the beginning of April with their 3-0 win away to Angers in midweek making it four consecutive Ligue 1 victories. Having averaged four goals per game in that run, PSG are ending the season with a bang. Though PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino stated after the game against Angers that he would have liked to secure the title that night, winning the league at the Parc des Prince could be the best way of reconciling with their fans after another Champions League failure. Confidence in terms of getting the job done should be high given that PSG haven’t lost a home H2H vs Lens since 2006.

Lens

Lens’ 2-0 home win against Montpellier in midweek made it four wins across their last five Ligue 1 outings, putting them firmly back in the race for the European spots. Battling for a first European appearance since 2007/08, Lens coach Franck Haise didn’t hide his enthusiasm ahead of this clash, saying that he has a team “ready to go into battle”. Yet, with three blanks for Lens across their last five away games, only the very brave would back anything close to a win for ‘Sang et Or’ here. A glimmer of hope could come from the fact that Franck Haise’s side have shown great character to come from behind in two of their three away wins recorded this year, while they’ve a decent H2H record since their return to the top flight.

PSG could rely on Kylian Mabppe for a good start as he’s found the net before half-time in their last four outings, while Lens have gone on to win all five Ligue 1 matches in which the talismanic Przemyslaw Frankowski has found the net. PSG has scored more goals after the 80th minute than any other Ligue 1 side (15).
