Returning to the Parc des Princes gives PSG a chance to defend the last remaining unbeaten home record in Ligue 1 this campaign.
PSG
Runaway Ligue 1 leaders PSG were shown to not be unstoppable in the last round, with their 15-game unbeaten run in the league finally coming to an end when going down 3-1 to Nantes, in what was the first time they’ve conceded three goals this season. Although they failed to turn that game around, PSG usually have no fear when chasing a game, winning the joint-highest number of league points (18) when conceding first across Europe’s top-five leagues. Returning to the Parc des Princes gives PSG a chance to defend the last remaining unbeaten home record in Ligue 1 this campaign. While their offensive prowess is often the talk of the town they can also thank their defence for their domestic dominance, again setting the tone across Europe’s top-five leagues by conceding a joint-low six league goals at home all season.
St Etienne
After spending 20 game weeks in the relegation zone, St Etienne finally made their escape with a run of four positive results in Ligue 1, scoring 2 goals in the last three. They’re not out of danger yet though, and with only one clean sheet in their last 11 league matches, their vulnerabilities remain a constant concern. ‘Les Verts’ have now won successive league games on the road, meaning they’ve won more league games on their travels than at home this campaign! St Etienne know the PSG juggernaut is different gravy though, as shown by going winless in their last 25 H2H meetings across all competitions.
PSG’s Neymar has been on the winning side in all five of his appearances against St Etienne, registering five-goal contributions in the process. Denis Bouanga’s last goal was scored in the reverse fixture for St Etienne, but seven of his previous nine domestic goals have come on the road. No Ligue 1 team has scored more goals from the 76th minute onwards than PSG’s 15 this season.
