Threat to Lionel Messi’s Family: Coach Expresses Concern

The coach of Newell’s Old Boys of Rosario, Gabriel Heinze, has expressed concern about the recent threat to the family of Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi by a group of drug traffickers. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning when a shop belonging to Messi’s in-laws in Rosario was shot at. In addition to the shots, a message dedicated to the captain of the Argentine national team was found at the scene.

Heinze, a former Argentina international and teammate of Lionel Messi, commented that the incident is an attack on everything and every person in the area. He added that the threat alienates Messi from his home country, as well as anyone else who might be in a similar position. The coach stated that there are many guys who would like to return to Argentina but are deterred by the level of violence in the region.

Heinze also expressed concern about the security situation in the country. He revealed that when he returned to Argentina to coach Godoy Cruz in 2015, he did not think about the security concerns. He acknowledged that it was irresponsible of him not to consider the issue.

Possible Destinations for Messi’s Retirement

Newell’s Old Boys of Rosario is one of the clubs frequently mentioned as a possible destination for Lionel Messi’s retirement from football. Messi played for the club at youth level before moving to Barcelona. Rosario is also the city where Messi regularly celebrates the Christmas holidays and owns a house in a gated community with his family.

However, Rosario is known to be a violence-ridden city, especially by drug gangs. The recent incident highlights the security concerns in the region and the need for greater efforts to combat drug trafficking and violence.
