Argentina are preparing for the battle

Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni appeared in front of the press to answer questions. With the match with France likely to be the biggest of his coaching career up to this point, Scaloni hopes to focus solely on his team’s performance. However, with the French squad suffering from illness throughout the week, Scaloni was forced to talk about how this could give his side a physical advantage. “Regarding the virus that the French players supposedly have, I can’t say anything because we don’t have anything official,” Scaloni said at his pre-match press conference. “We are preparing for the game in terms of how they will play and how we want to play.”

The Albiceleste have the best fans in the world

One of the issues in the tournament, especially in the later stages, was fans struggling to get into the stadiums without tickets. Morocco’s quarter-final with Portugal saw several unfortunate incidents taking place off the ground. It is feared that many Argentine fans will seek to enter the stadium for Sunday’s final without a legitimate ticket. “I’m sorry, it’s something from our hands. I’d love it if they could be there, the stadium has the capacity, and to come in itself, it’s something incredible,” Scaloni added. “We hope that the majority can be present and give them some joy. We have the best fans in the world, and for one reason or another, they needed joy, and we give it to them, and how can I not be excited.”

“Football is a sport in Argentina; although it’s hard to understand, it can be more than a sport, and for us, the fact that the people were happy during this World Cup excites us.”

Having already played in the World Cup final, Lionel Messi knows what it’s like to try to defeat in the biggest game in international football. His career has been criticised for not winning the World Championship, but now he has another chance to do so. Scaloni, however, believes this will be the Paris Saint-Germain forward’s last chance, as Sunday’s clash with France is likely to be his final international fixture. “If Leo said this was going to be his last game, what better scenario than a World Cup final?” Scaloni thought. “Tomorrow’s match is Argentina vs France; it’s more than Messi vs Mbappe. On our side, we hope it goes our way. Tons of players can decide the match.”
