Liverpool is confident in their ability to complete the acquisition of Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay.

The Scottish prodigy has had a breakout season, appearing in 33 games across all competitions.

And the Reds are hopeful of landing the right-back for a bargain £4 million cost ahead of a possible summer transfer to Anfield.

Ramsay is eager to make the move, and a deal might be finalized before the end of the week.

In April, the 18-year-old was named Young Player of the Year by the Scottish Football Writers Association.

Ramsay has also represented his country at the Under-21 level three times.

Ramsay is expected to serve as a back-up to first-team star Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the club evidently hoping he can replicate the effect of fellow countryman Andy Robertson, who has shone at left back since joining from Hull.

However, the acquisition would cast doubt on the future of Neco Williams, a 21-year-old full-back who spent the latter months of last season on loan at promoted Fulham.
