Liverpool expects Bayern Munich to make a third approach for Sadio Mane, valuing him at roughly £42 million.
Liverpool has previously turned down two proposals from the Bundesliga champions for Mane, the most recent of which being a £30 million offer made on Wednesday.
Liverpool dismissed it the same way they treated the one they got at the weekend, dismissing it out of hand and dismissing the offer as a joke.
Bayern increased their first offer from £21.5 million to £23.5 million, but the remaining £6.5 million would only be paid outright if Mane won three Champions League titles and as many Ballon d’Or honors at the Allianz Arena.
The German champions are attempting to recoup £43 million from Barcelona in exchange for Robert Lewandowski, and Liverpool think the amount reflects Mane’s value. Intriguingly, the Catalan giants are also interested in the ex-Southampton striker.
However, it seems evident that Mane’s six-year stay at Anfield is nearing to an end, with Uruguayan striker Nunez, 22, expected to take his position as his immediate successor.
The Reds are anticipated to break their £75 million transfer record, which they set when they spent £85 million for Virgil van Dijk from Benfica.
Nunez, who scored 34 goals in 41 games for the Portuguese giants last season in all competitions, would be an excellent addition to an offensive line already brimming with ability.
The Uruguayan, who idolizes former Liverpool striker and international teammate Luis Suarez, also scored six goals in the Champions League last season, including two against Jurgen Klopp’s side in the quarter-finals.
Nunez, who turned down a substantial offer from Newcastle to transfer to the Premier League in January, has also been courted by Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.
