Jordan Henderson

Reportedly, Captain Jordan Henderson is set to miss up to 12 weeks of action suppose he discovers today whether he will need surgery on his groin.

Captain Henderson limped out of the Red’s deflating 2-0 derby defeat against Everton to add to Klopp’s forever-growing injury list. Should the captain require surgery performed on his groin, it would end his Liverpool season. The situation will also place his hopes of appearing at this summer’s Euros in major doubt.

After 30 minutes of play, the midfielder was forced off against Everton with an adductor issue. The 30-year-old was being pursued by Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure when he sharply pulled up and crumpled to the ground.

Henderson had scans performed on Monday with the club facing an anxious wait to find out how long he could be out. It is a huge blow facing Klopp yet again with the fact that he is already without several key players. This has moreover seen their title defense turn to ash.

Subsequently, Liverpool has found it impossible to replace key defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip. Henderson and Fabinho, who had been deputizing in the heart of defense have now succumbed themselves.

Cost of Henderson’s Injury to Club and Country

Should Henderson require surgery, it would be a major worry for England boss, Gareth Southgate as well. The captain would be unlikely to full train until May at the earliest which would see him struggle to get match fit in time for the Euros that kick off on 13th June for the Three Lions.

Even if surgery will not be required, Henderson will likely miss Premier League fixtures against Sheffield United, Chelsea, Fulham, and Wolverhampton. Also, he might miss Liverpool’s second leg against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on 10th March.
