The draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League 2020/21 season was held at UEFA headquarters, where it was revealed that Liverpool will face German Leipzig.

It is noteworthy that the “Reds” have been competing successfully in European tournaments against German clubs in recent years. The Merseysiders last lost to German side Bayer Leverkusen (2: 4) in April 2002. So, they have had a 10-match unbeaten streak since then (7 wins, 3 draws).

In the group stage of the Champions League, the team of Jürgen Klopp took first place. Therefore, its opponent had to be determined from the runners-up, which turned out to be Leipzig.

Given that Liverpool finished first in the playoffs, they will host the first leg of the quarter-finals and visit Leipzig on 16, 17, 22 or 23 February 2021. The return match between The Reds and The Red Bulls will be held on March 9, 10, 16 or 17. The exact date will be known later.
