Liverpool
Roberto Firmino has yet to make an appearance for Liverpool this season, having missed the 3-2 win over AC Milan in midweek.
Sadio Mane, Thiago, and Virgil van Dijk did not play in the Champions League in midweek but will almost certainly start here.
Mane has scored in all eight of his previous games against Palace.
Crystal Palace
Last weekend’s 3-0 win over Tottenham saw Michael Olise and Luka Milivojevic make their first appearances of the season as substitutes.
Odsonne Edouard scored twice from the bench in a memorable debut last time out and will undoubtedly be unleashed right away here.
Aside from Edouard’s full debut, no other changes are expected from last weekend.
Prediction
AC Milan pushed Liverpool all the way in the Champions League in midweek, but the Reds prevailed in a five-goal thriller. This season, they have won four of their first five games.
Crystal Palace will be buoyed by their recent 3-0 victory over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Unfortunately, they’ve now lost eight games in a row to Liverpool.
Going forward, Palace should have a more clinical attacking edge, with Edouard, Zaha, and Conor Gallagher all proving to be worthy sources of goals under the Vieira revolution.
As impressive as their win over Tottenham was, facing an 11-man Liverpool side could be too much for a team that has historically struggled in this fixture, and we expect the Reds to neutralize their opponents’ attacking forces during a straightforward victory.
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Mane
Crystal Palace possible starting lineup:
Guaita; Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; McArthur, Kouyate, Gallagher; Ayew, Edouard, Zaha
Our Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Crystal Palace
