It’s play-off decider time (LSG vs GT). Today, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants will lock their horns against each other. Both teams have sealed the number 1 and 2 place in the current points table. Their eyes will be on securing a place in the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans remained at top for a long time but in the last couple of matches, their batting has struggled. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants kept pushing hard and players, too, did the business cleanly.  With this, Lucknow has reached the top in its place. However, these two teams have equal 16 points and the team winning this match will be confirmed to the playoffs.

Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans had lost to Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians last week. Lucknow, on the other hand, have won their last four matches. These include a 75-run victory in the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), due to which the team of Lucknow will take the field on a high morale. KL Rahul has led Lucknow from the front. He has so far scored 451 runs in 11 matches which includes two centuries and half-centuries. LSG vs GT is equally poised for batting and bowling attack of both teams.

Lucknow Super Giants team is heavily dependent on him in batting but in recent matches Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda have taken more responsibility which has eased Rahul’s burden. Lucknow bowlers are also doing well, taking wickets and not leaking runs.

Against Punjab Kings, the team defended 153 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders couldn’t even reach anywhere near to the required chase as they faced defeat by 75 runs. In this match, fast bowlers Avesh Khan and Jason Holder performed brilliantly.

Fast bowlers Mohsin Khan, spinner Krunal Pandya and Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chamira have bowled economical. Ravi Bishnoi, however, proved to be a bit expensive in the last match. As far as Gujarat is concerned, it has strengthened its position by making a comeback in difficult situations. Gujarat  Titans has always found individuals who come up straight to their game and win the match for the team. However, it did not happen against Mumbai when they could not score nine runs in the last over.

Gujarat batsmen need to maintain consistency. Shubman Gill has not been able to shine but Wriddhiman Saha has expressed his intentions well. Hardik, David Miller and Rahul Tewatia also could not perform well in the recent matches. They will have to regain the old momentum at the crucial juncture of the tournament. Gujarat has world-class bowlers in the form of Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson and Rashid Khan. However, Shami has not been seen in his complexion recently. They also need to get back into the rhythm.
