Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants: Match Prediction & Pitch Report

Chasing Chennai’s 211-run target, the opening pair of De Kock and Rahul gave Lucknow Super Giants a strong start. The duo took Lucknow to 98 in 10 overs. But Pretorius  bowled well and gave the first break-through when KL Rahul lost his wicket.

Rahul was followed by Manish Pandey who was dismissed for 5 runs. De Kock, meanwhile, kept advancing with a good strike rate and unsettled the Chennai bowlers with a half-century off 34 balls.

As Lucknow Super Giants came close to victory, Chennai Super Kings got a big wicket from De Cock. Again, Pretorious did the required job. However, that didn’t slow things down.

Even Lewis kept the scoreboard moving even after De Cock’s dismissal. Despite the wickets, Lucknow Super Giants kept showing intent to win the match till the last ball. Deepak Hooda also returned with a small contribution of 13 off 8 balls.

Consequently, Lucknow Super Giants required 34 runs to win in the last two overs. With due on field, Jadeja decided to go on with Dube which turned out to be a terrible decision. He conceded 25 runs in the 19th over and pushed  Chennai Super Kings on the back-foot.

Evidently, Evin Lewis continued to play on one side and with the help of Ayush Badoni, the team won the first match of the IPL 2022.
