CricketLucknow Super Giants To Host Chennai Super Kings, Who’s Getting 2 Points?

In KL Rahul’s absences, Quinton de Kock will definitely get a chance to play his first match of the IPL 2023. This doesn’t make Lucknow Super Giants a weaker side because they still have some decent firepower in their batting line-up.

It will be interesting to see how well they come up against the inexperienced bowling of Chennai Super Kings. This year for the first time, Chennai failed to defend 200 run score at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

A match before they conceded 200 against Rajasthan Royals. So, their bowling line-up has some small issues which if they are put under, there is a significant opportunity for batters to score some runs against them.

Royal Challengers Banglore defended 126 against Lucknow Super Giants on the fussy track of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium. Something similar is expected so team winning the toss will definitely go for batting first.

This could change only with intervention of rain, there are 70% chances of rain and thunderstorms in today’s match which apparently takes away the possibility of full overs match. In that case, chasing might get easier because DLS won’t be considering the nature of the pitch.

Kyle Mayers will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders to go big against CSK and provide that wonderful start that is due needed on this track. De Kock can take his time, it will be his first match so no big pressure on him.

De Kock played 45 balls 61 runs innings last time he played against CSK, and if he gets going, LSG can post upto 150 runs on this track which will me more than enough for what we have seen happening in previous matches on this ground.

Chennai has a strong batting line-up, full of stroke players, power hitters and finishers. The openers have done a great job, a very able and attacking batting order to play against spin. Mark Wood won’t be available so the inexperience of LSG bowling attack will be gently accepted by Chennai batters.

Both teams are in top 3, LSG at third position and Chennai right below them at 4th position. Inconsistency have been a big problem for both teams, they won their matches but couldn’t keep on with the accumulated momentum for long.

It could be a rain curtailed game. Otherwise, something similar to past low scoring games is expected unless they chose to play on red soil. Have a number of international players, a game on black soil won’t suit their game.
