The January signing extended his outstanding start to his Liverpool career by scoring in the Champions League semi-final triumph against Villarreal on Tuesday night and then delivering once more against Tottenham to earn a point.
The Colombian, who joined Liverpool in January for £50 million from Porto, helped Jurgen Klopp’s team turn around their European fortunes after falling behind two goals in Spain.
When Diaz came in at halftime, he was a constant danger and completed the comeback by scoring their second goal of the night, proving Klopp’s replacement was a success.
Since arriving on Merseyside, his winter signing has put in a string of excellent performances, so might he be the finest January signing in Premier League history?
Although he has only been a Liverpool player for a little over four months, the 25-year-old already appears to be one of Klopp’s most impactful strikers when paired with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
While his statistics aren’t particularly impressive (six goals and three assists in 22 games), Diaz’s quickness and deceptive footwork are a nightmare for defenders, as he proved when he came off the bench against Villarreal.
