Croatia had a chance to qualify to the next round from second position. After losing the game against England, they did their best to win the game against Scotland.

Zlatko Dalic decided to play very attacking football. They had nothing to lose in the group, so Croatia had to score a goal very soon after starting the game. We saw very attacking football from the very first minute of the game. Zlatko Dalic decided to play Luka Modric as a play-maker. The captain of the national team was behind the main striker – Petkovic. Luka was everywhere during the attacking line, he had a total freedom of mind from Zlatko Dalic. Perisic was attacking from the left side and Vlasic from the right side. 

Croatia could not score an early goal in the first 15 minutes. They continued their attacks and did not give up. Soon, we have seen a beautiful goal from Croatia. After the pass from Perisic, Vlasic scored a beautiful goal. Croatia took the lead and decided to control the ball. Croatians were very active in the midfield and mostly they were controlling the pace of the game. In the last minute of the first half, Scotland scored a goal out of the blue. It was visible that Croatia’s defenders made a big mistake. By that goal, Scotland got a chance for ⅛ finals. It was the first goal of Scotland in the 21st century in the Euro final tournament.

 

Masterclass from Luka Modric

Luka Modric decided to take responsibility in the second half. Real Madrid’s midfielder started controlling the pace of the attacks. Croatia started doing counter-attacks too. The team was very active and dangerous because of Luka’s masterclass. In the middle of the second half, Luka Modric scored a very beautiful goal. Everyone knew that Croatia was not going to stop and score more. In just a few minutes, Croatia scored another goal and increased the lead with two goals. Perisic’s goal happened after Luka’s assist. So, Luka Modric demonstrated a true master-class in the second half.
