Inter Milan Romelu Lukaku silence his rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic as Inter crush AC Milan 3-0 at San Siro on Sunday. The Belgium tallish man played a role  in all the 3 goals.

The Belgian international powered down the right flank in the opening minutes. Despite Milan defender Simon Kjaer effort on Lukaku’s initial cross,  it was not enough that Martinez netted. Kjaer block found its way back to Lukaku to set up Martinez for the opener.

Ibrahimovic time came as he flicked a dangerous back-heel after a quarter of an hour but Samir Handanovic kept it out. As that was not enough the Inter keeper also pulling off a double save from the Swedish.

The former United striker and Achraf Hakimi started a move that saw Martinez finishing off an Ivan Perisic pull-back. Lukaku was denied by Donnarumma what could have been the third of the game, but he then burst through to score the third.

Inter coach Antonio Conte hailed a game “played to perfection” as his side opened a four-point lead at the top of Serie A. inter have not won the title since 2010 when they saw an unprecedented treble under Jose Mourinho.

“Credit to the lads, they put in an extraordinary performance, carried out to perfection,” said Conte.

The Sunday showdown was the third Derby this season. Milan won 2-1 in the first before Inter got their revenge in the Italian Cup quarter-final by the same score line. A game overshadowed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lukaku with the two squaring off and trading insults.

Despite the restrictions, Inter received a glorious welcome from thousands of their fans outside the stadium. Supporters waited for the team buses to arrive, waving flags and singing, setting off smoke bombs, before the teams entered the stadium.

“The welcome the fans gave us at the stadium gave us goosebumps,” said Conte.
