United fans compared Shaw to the legendary Brazil left-back Roberto Carlos after his recent spark of form. The England international has laughed off the newly fans acquired status. However, Shaw admits that it is nice to be mentioned alongside the legendary Brazilian.

The Red Devils no.23 spectacular showings this season has led to him being dubbed ‘Shawberto Carlos’ by some United fans. Responding on a Q&A Shaw reveals he laugh about it.

“I’ll be honest I’ve seen some things on it on social media and sometimes in my group chats my mates send me some stuff and I just laugh about it!”  Shaw responded.

Shaw added, “I can’t be compared to him, he was unbelievable!

“I’m aware of it and it’s nice to be even mentioned alongside his name, but I just laugh about it!”

Despite Luke Shaw’s appreciative expression to Roberto Carlos likening, he views his fellow English man as the best left-back. Shaw picked Ashley Cole, a player who he succeeded in the England side as an 18-year-old, in 2014.

“I think, looking back at when I was growing up and my sort of era. And watching him a lot, and basing my game a lot on him,” Shaw revealed.

“And what I wanted to be like as a player, then, I would have to say Ashley Cole (the best).”

“I’ve always been a massive fan of him and thought when I was growing up. He was one of the best left-backs at that time,” he added.

“For me, as an all-round full-back, he was one of the best I’ve ever seen with attacking and defending. So I’d say Ashley Cole,” Shaw stated.

Shaw has been suspended for the Granada Thursday’s Europa League Quarter Finals 2nd leg alongside his defender Harry Maguire. Also, Scott McTomanaiy is set to miss the duel.
