The situation
Real Madrid will hold its annual Assembly of Delegates on Sunday, October 2. The club has convened this morning the conclave in which the representative members are called to approve the accounts of last season and the budget of the present one. The compromisers are summoned at 09:00 in the morning in the first call and at 10:00 in the second call in the Basketball Pavilion of the Real Madrid City of Valdebebas. The Assembly, as happened last year, will be held in mixed mode, both in person and online. The Board of Directors chaired by Florentino Pérez attends with the homework done. In sports, the Whites’ leaders will present the 14th European Cup , the football and basketball leagues, the Spanish football and basketball Super Cups and the European Super Cup (already this 2022-23 season) to the members. Economically, in a season in which commercial activity continued to suffer from the impact of the pandemic, the club’s managers closed the year with a net profit of 12.9 million euros . An exceptional positive result among the widespread losses that continue to be recorded by European clubs due to the ravages of the health crisis (UEFA calculations indicate that only in 2019-20 and 2020-21 European clubs lost, together, 6,000 million euros). Madrid estimates that, in his case, the loss of income due to covid amounts to 400 million euros. The club will present the members with an expense budget for the 2022-23 season, which is 769.6 million euros , 7% more (48.1 million euros) than last season, but still 6% lower ( €52.2 million) to that projected for 2019-20. The club plans to close the year with a net profit of five million. Finally, in the ordinary session, the proposal for social quotas for the 2023-24 season will be voted on. After the ordinary Assembly, an extraordinary session will be held in which the appointment of Amancio Amaro as the new honorary president of the club, the modification of article 40 of the Bylaws, and the merger by absorption of the RSC Internacional, with the one that next season will ‘resurrect’ Real Madrid C and that last weekend its participation in group 7 of the Third Division began in Valdebebas.
The big numbers of the club accounts
The Board of Directors will present accounts for 2021-22 in which current income (not counting capital gains from player sales) amounted to 721.5 million euros , 10% more than the previous season, although they are still lower those reached in the 2017-18 season, two years before the pandemic. The net worth is already 546 million euros. In this concept, the club has already managed to recover the figures prior to the health crisis.
