Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals his skipper is far from being fit and has till Tuesday night.
Solskjaer confirms that both Maguire and Martial will miss the English Premier League last match. The two have not managed to shed off their respective injury concern but Maguire could feature against Villarreal.
The former Molde tactician admits his skipper has made a progress but he may be far from returning. He says he has till Tuesday night to prove his match fitness.
“He’s walking but it’s a long way from walking to running, to be honest,” Solskjaer revealed.
“I don’t think we’ll see him Gdansk, no. But I’m going to give him until Tuesday night, the last training session, to see if he can be out there. Steadily but surely he’s improving. But ligaments take time to heal,” he explained.
“He’s a very important person in the dressing room and a leader. Before fans came in you all heard him from the stands, he does still want the team to do well. He’s organizing even from the stands, which has been easy because it’s been so quiet,” he added.
However the Norwegian confirms that Harry will be in the dressing room cheering up his teammates.
“He’ll come, he’ll be in the dressing room, he’ll make sure everyone’s ready for the final,” Solskjaer confirmed.
Meanwhile, Danny Ings insists he is tied to Southampton 2022 summer as transfer speculation continues. Solskjaer recently confirms that United might add a strike despite Edison Cavani extending a one-year stay.
Rumors link Ings to an Old Trafford summer move but he insists he is focusing on the current season.
“I’ve got a contract until the summer of 2022,” Ings said.
“I haven’t really acknowledged them [transfer rumors]. I’ve just been focused on each game. Ultimately, I’ve still got a contract here,” he added.
“My main focus is to finish the season strong,” he concluded.
