Julian Alvarez has been linked to a range of top European clubs and the PL champions are considering making the move.
A little about Julian Alvarez
Man City is considering a move for forward River Plate. The 21-year-old refers to a release clause in his contract, set at around £17m. Man City have been without a striker all season since missing out on Kane from Tottenham in the summer, but he is unlikely to go straight for Guardiola this season with a coach keen on signing a front-line striker in the summer. River Plate is looking to keep him for the next six months and he could then be loaned out to a sister club under the City Football Group.
Julian Alvarez scored 18 goals in 21 Argentine top flight appearances last season. The Argentina international is one of Argentina’s most promising young players, having made five appearances for the national team in World Cup qualifiers and the Copa América. Alvarez was at the Madrid academy for two years but was unable to sign them as he was under 13.
Madrid have been linked with a comeback for the striker and he has been a potential target for a host of European giants including Barcelona and Man Utd. After returning to Argentina with River Julian, he made his professional debut in 2018 and scored 36 goals in 96 appearances. Relatively small and with a low center of gravity, Julian has drawn comparisons to fellow Argentinean and record-breaking Man City Aguero, but he also has the ability to play anywhere across three fronts.
