Manchester United will ‘provide five-star meals on wheels to their stars at home to prevent them from gaining weight,’ after personal cooks were prohibited under Erik Ten Hag’s tough new regime.
Manchester United is said to be providing their players with five-star meals on wheels’ to keep them from gaining weight during the season.
Many players, notably Cristiano Ronaldo and Luke Shaw, used to have their own personal cooks, but Erik ten Hag’s tough new standards at Carrington have prohibited this.
Instead, despite the fact that many of its major players own pricey designer kitchens, club chefs can be contracted to cook their food before having it brought to their homes.
According to one source,’some are young, live alone, and are far more confident on the pitch than in the kitchen.’
As part of major reforms at the Red Devils, the club advertised for a first team head chef last month.
‘The amenities at Carrington are now more akin to a Michelin-starred restaurant than an old-fashioned canteen,’ said the person.
‘There’s even a steakhouse.’ Because the players must adhere to their diets, the chefs are pleased to prepare meals and have them delivered to any player who requests them.’
Previously,it was reported on ten Hag’s ‘five tough new regulations’ for his United stars, which included a ban on personal cooks and a strict revision of the cuisine that his players eat.
Alcohol consumption will also be prohibited during game weeks, which will be plentiful this season with United also competing in the Europa League.
The 52-year-old Dutchman has instilled in his children a rigid set of beliefs centered on discipline and health checkups.
Other measures included requiring athletes to eat together at training and performing weekly BMI tests.
Players who arrive late for training or team meetings will be instructed to leave and will be dropped without exception.
Healthy food on the menu at Carrington includes more prominent placement of fish and vegetables, with players expected to eat mostly at the training center cafeteria.
Those players would be required to stick to their personal eating programs when at home, hence the club’s delivery service.
