Man Utd has reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund on the transfer of Jadon Sancho.
Negotiation between the two parties
It is understood that a fee of just under £ 73 million has been agreed between the two parties with International England, which is now recruiting to undergo a medical examination prior to completion of the transfer. He will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with an option for another 12 months. The two clubs have been negotiating royalties for months, with Dortmund rejecting United’s £ 67 million bid in early June.
Negotiations between the two parties have continued over the past month as they tried to confirm the payment and also came to an agreement on how the full amount would be paid, and disputes over how much would be paid in addition caused delays. The final royalty is believed to be £ 72.9m – excluding superstructures.
Unlike last summer, which failed to reach an agreement, this summer the United States remained optimistic that the deal could be completed. Dortmund had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon Sancho that he could leave if the buying club came up with their asking price and the Bundesliga side sticks to their word and let England move internationally.
Jadon Sancho will now have to undergo a medical examination to complete his transfer, which is expected to happen after he finishes his international debt with England for Euro 2020. He did not start on Gareth Southgate’s side, but is still part of their team as they prepare for their quarter-finals against Ukraine.
A little about Jadon Sancho
He played 38 games last season, scoring 16 goals and 20 assists for the Bundesliga side. He signed with Man City’s Dortmund in 2017 and played 137 matches in all competitions, scoring 50 goals and assisting 67. Most of his performances have been on the right wing, where he is expected to play for United, but he has shown his versatility behind the front lines and also played left and as an attacking midfielder during his time in Germany.
