Man Utd is considering terminating the lease of 19-year-old Facundo Pellistri with Deportivo Alaves.

A little about Facundo Pellistri?

Facundo joined the League in the summer transfer window over the course of the season to gain a vital playing experience, and while he’s in the squad every week and capitalizing on the experience, he’s struggling for starts. The 19-year-old has just started one league game this season and has yet to get 200 minutes under his belt. It is understood that Man Utd is therefore in the process of renegotiating its credit due to a number of factors, including playing time, and will be deciding whether or not to revoke the contract.

Man Utd inserted a clause into a loan agreement with Alaves that allows them to terminate the deal early if Facundo Pellistri hasn’t played 1,000 minutes before early December. The teen has so far only played 195 minutes in seven appearances and only started once.

Sources say there is frustration with the lack of playing time as there were a number of other clubs that were interested in renting the teenager, including Club Brugge, and he may have enjoyed more playing time. If the club had canceled his deal, options would have been to consider another loan for the second half of the season or keep it at Man Utd.

Facundo Pellistri signed with Man Utd in October 2020 from Penarol and was a recurring event for Wood’s Under-23 side as he adapted to life in England. He spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Alaves, where he played 12 La Liga appearances with five starts.

Facundo impressed Ole Gunnar Solskjær during the preseason and scored the winner against Derby in their opening summer friendly, but the decision was made to send him on loan with playing time to Old Trafford, which was to be limited. The arrival of Sancho this summer pushed Facundo further down the pecking order.

Pellistri is the player to play against

Solskjær was impressed with his preseason influence. After scoring against Derby, the Norwegian said that he thought Facundo Pellistri was bright, of course he takes his goal very well. First touch, good pass from Shola, but great first touch sets him up. Solskjær thinks Facundo Pellistri is showing how difficult Pellistri is to play against. One against one Pellistri can pass people by, and Ole is very pleased with him.
