Leo Messi may reunite with Pep Guardiola at City

Although Messi’s contract does not formally end until June 30. The Barcelona captain will be free to negotiate with the new clubs from January 1. There is a lot of conflicting news regarding Messi at the moment, however. For example, as reported on Monday, Manchester City are hesitant to offer the 33-year-old a deal because of his age and wage requirements. The fact that Pep Guardiola signed a new contract at Manchester City last week has only added fuel to rumours that Messi may reunite with his former coach in England. However, with the presidential election to be held in Barcelona on January 24, one of the candidates, Victor Font, believes the club’s star could stay.

“I am very convinced there is a future for Messi at the club,” Font said. “Leo is a winner and, like all Barcelona fans, we are disappointed when there are no results. But that has nothing to do with what could happen in the medium and long term. We must present him with a solid project with guarantees for the future.”
