Fulham kept the City calm for the first 45 minutes at Craven Cottage through some organized and outstanding play. Despite the calm first half, the noisy Citizens roared in the second to claim a 3-0 victory.

Stones displays a nice play to finish off Joao Cancelo’s cross just after the second-half kickoff. Gabriel Jesus netted 9 minutes later before Sergio Kun Aguero executed a fine finish from the spot-kick.

Stones grabbed the man of the match award for the stellar performance that even manager Pep Guardiola praised.

“Another great performance. The goal was so important. The way he played, I am so happy,” happy Pep said.

When asked if England coach Gareth Southgate should recall Stones, he responded positively, “He deserves it.”

“Of course, Gareth Southgate knows better than me what he needs, but I would be delighted and happy if he is back in the national team,” Guardiola said after the match.

On his side, the former Everton defender could not hesitate to applaud his teammates, their calmness, and patients.

“Everyone that came in today deserves every bit of credit for the way we played. We fought and stayed so patient, which is difficult in moments like this,” Stones Said.

“I’m glad to get on the scoresheet again. We knew that they keep such a high line from set-pieces. I tried to time my run as best as I could. The ball was great from Joao (Cancelo). We told him to go over earlier to have an in-swinging ball and it paid off,” Stones explains.

Also, Stones admitted that he is eying England’s international recall.

When asked he responded, “Definitely.”

“It is a massive honor for me and being out of the England squad has been really difficult for me.

“I’ve worked really hard to get back in the team here and the England call up. If it comes, is progress from what I’ve done here at City,” Stones admits.
