Robin van Persie warned Donny Van de Beek that he would face the first team competition at Manchester United before last summer’s transfer.

The 2013 golden boot winner warned his countryman that he was joining ‘a beast of a cub. This week’s report claims that Van de Beek has sought clarity over his future. The Dutch midfielder has made only two league starts for United as opposed to his expectation.

However, Van Persie told Van de Beek the Premier League was “a different world.” Van de Beek’s lack of appearance in United has justified Van Persie’s statement.

“Donny van de Beek is 23 years old, and that is a nice age to make a transfer to the Premier League,” Van Persie said in August.

Van Persie talks about his move to Arsenal and how the  English League is.

He said that “I was a bit younger when I went to Arsenal. And in the locker room, I was considered a player for the future,”

“Winning the UEFA Cup with Feyenoord meant nothing, the Premier League is a completely different world,” he stated.

Van Persie continued to warn Van de Beek that he would face intense competition to cut into the first team. He urged him to stand fight because that was the only thing to do in the premier league.

“Donny will be brought in as a major purchase from Manchester United, but he will discover that those other 22 players have also been brought in as a ‘major purchase. One had an even bigger transfer than the other,” he continued.

He concluded, “It means that he has to stand there right away.”

Van de Beek has also suffered injury setbacks in his quest to impress ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Even though he had a big expectation, Van de Beek has struggled to fall behind the pecking order in the midfield.
