The Red Devils are dragging out contract talks for David De Gea and Marcus Rashford as the Manchester United manager is busy sorting through many squad issues.

What did Erik ten Hag say?

The contracts of David and Marcus should end in the summer of 2023. While the club could extend their stay for an extra year, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says a final decision on the couple’s future has yet to be made. Leading other players including Fred, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Cristiano Ronaldo will also end their contracts in June 2023. However, the Red Devils head coach doesn’t want contract negotiations to be a distraction as Ten Hag focuses on improving the team’s performance.

The Dutch coach said in a press conference that they haven’t made a decision on him, but he can say he’s really happy with David de Gea as a keeper. His first two performances of the season weren’t the best, but after they see, he brings them a lot for the defense establishment, gives them stability and as a person he likes. But according to Erik ten Hag, first they go for the winter, and then they will talk about how to deal with it.

Pressing whether the same applies to Marcus, Fred and Dalot, the Manchester United manager added that at this point they were only thinking about the performance. They have a lot of games, so Erik doesn’t want this to get in the way of conversations. Ten Hag says there are obviously a lot of problems, and they had to integrate a lot of players, it’s frustrating to deal with problems from the very beginning.

A little about Manchester United

In fact, Manchester United have scored the fewest (13) goals among the top six teams. Manchester United’s defensive record also falls short as they have lost the most (15) in this group.
