Moussa Dembele of Lyon is being watched by Manchester United as they look to revamp their attack this summer.

With Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard’s contracts expiring, the Old Trafford club will almost certainly make changes to their forward line.

As he near the end of his contract, Marcus Rashford’s future is becoming increasingly uncertain, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial are also considering leaving the club.

Dembele began his career at Celtic as a youth before moving to Lyon two years later. His current contract expires in 2023, putting Lyon at risk of losing him as a free agent if new terms cannot be reached.

If Lyon decides he is unlikely to extend his stay, the 25-year-old may be available for as little as £25 million.

Memphis Depay has already left Lyon on a free transfer, and defender Jason Denayer appears to be following in his footsteps this summer. Dembele, who has nine goals in 19 league appearances this season, including five in his past seven, would be anxious to escape a similar fate.

Dembele has Champions League experience, having scored twice in Lyon’s quarter-final win against Manchester City in 2020. He also had an assist in Lyon’s 1-0 Europa League win over Porto on Wednesday night.

He is familiar with the British game, having previously played for Fulham. Indeed, if he joined an English team, he would be considered a homegrown player because of his time there.
