The professionalism demonstrated by all of them is beyond doubt, as is Carlo Ancelotti’s confidence in them. Each case is different, as they have little in common with each other.

Asensio attracted interest from several clubs

Marco Asensio is one of seven Real Madrid players whose contracts expire on June 30, 2023, and all of these players have entered into negotiations about their future at the club. The professionalism demonstrated by all of them is beyond doubt, as is Carlo Ancelotti’s confidence in them. Each case is different, as they have little in common with each other. With Asensio, he attracted interest from several clubs, but he desires to continue his childhood dream of playing for Real Madrid. As far as Asensio wants to continue to play for the club, there have been several difficult situations. The Real Madrid directors have already made him an offer. Other clubs have turned to his agent, Jorge Mendez, who listens to all requests but knows that Asensio’s priority is to stay at Los Blancos.

Marco wants to feel like he’s an essential player for Ancelotti

There should be more news about his future in the next two to three weeks, and it’s not just about the money. Asensio wants to feel like he’s an essential player for Ancelotti and his salary demands are secondary. In his next meeting with the Real Madrid directors, he will discuss his role in the team, not the figure in his contract. Real Madrid are aware that every player’s case is different and Asensio is unique because of his ability to find the back of the net, his powerful shots and the fact that he is only 27 years old. Asensio managed to turn the tide. Back in the summer, everything indicated that he might leave the team. However, Ancelotti trusted him, and an affectionate gesture from Florentino Pérez led to a contract extension offer before the end of the year.

Being a starter at San Mames and part of Ancelotti’s plans of late will help him make his final decision in the next couple of weeks. Asensio appeared in 12 league games but made just three starts, playing a total of 319 minutes, scoring one goal and handing out three assists. He also appeared in three Copa del Rey games (160 minutes on the field), while he appeared in six Champions League games (two goals and one assist with two starts) and two Supercopa de Espana games. This is more than he could expect in the summer. Ancelotti opened the door for Asensio to stay at Real Madrid, and the Spain international did not give up, demonstrating that he could contribute to the team and that he wanted to take a step forward. That is why he wants to extend the contract with Los Blancos.
