Marco Verratti says PSG has been forced to provide top performances during the intense race for the Ligue 1 title this season, saying they always feel obligated to win.

This is an incredible championship

Paris Saint-Germain returned to the top of Ligue 1 after a 3-1 win at Metz on Saturday, with Mbappe scoring twice and Mauro Icardi also drawing from a penalty spot. Marco Verratti acknowledges that the reigning champions of France are expected to emerge victorious in every domestic game, and he is taking that extra pressure in the final weeks of the season. Marco Verratti said that they have several responsibilities to win and that they have a plan to win the most matches. The rest will play and will do their own way and that they will see who comes first. The Italian midfielder also said that this is an incredible championship, one of the most beautiful. There are four more teams that can win the title, so they can’t make any mistakes. Today they played a serious game, they won and they deserve it and they are happy.

Paris Saint-Germain is now two points free from runner-up Lille at the summit, albeit playing one more game. Lille’s game is in hand against Lyon, who returned three points to fourth at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday. Third-placed Monaco will operate the same day away from the Angers, where a win will see them crossing within the Paris Saint-Germain point.

There will be another chance to impress

Verratti’s 2020-21 campaign was thwarted by two positive coronavirus tests and a series of niggling injuries, but he was still a key figure on the team when he came up fully. The 28-year-old has distinguished himself in 27 games in all competitions, recording six assists but has yet to score. Marco will likely have another chance to impress when Paris Saint-Germain turns her attention back to the Champions League this week, with the first match of their semi-final against Man City set at Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
