There is a risk of a split in the team

Following reports about a potential rift between Manchester United players, Marcus Rashford didn’t hesitate to dismiss rumours on Twitter about some players’ unease about Cristiano Ronaldo’s alleged attempt to take over the dressing room. Despite the arrival of the Portuguese star, the Red Devils have failed to deliver under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim coach Ralf Rangnick. They took over after the former’s dismissal. Apart from the recent poor results, the club are reportedly facing another issue, according to Bild’s Head of Football Christian Falk, as certain players are allegedly not pleased with Ronaldo’s attitude in the dressing room. “English players like Harry Maguire, Marcus Rushford & Co are irritated that Ronaldo wants to lead the dressing room with his own clique,” Falk posted on Twitter. “There is a risk of a split in the team.”

Stop looking for divides

Frustrated by Falk’s claims on the social media, Rashford quoted the journalist’s tweet in his attempt to dismiss rumours about possible friction. “Are we just making it up as we go along now then?” Rashford wrote. “Please stop looking for divides.” The conversation did not end there, though, as Falk replied to the 24-year-old. “Not true, and you know it,” he tweeted, tagging Rashford. This is not the first time that a divide in the Manchester United dressing room has been reported this season. The Express claimed back in January that Maguire, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood questioned Ronaldo’s undroppable status. “On United, I’m seeing reports of dressing room dissatisfaction this morning,” Manchester United legend Gary Neville wrote on Twitter back in December. Something wasn’t right vs Norwich and certainly not vs Newcastle.”

“Still, four points from those games is not a disaster considering the performance levels. Have a meeting [without staff] and sort it out!” The Red Devils have won just one of their last four games in all competitions and are currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, with sixth-placed Arsenal and eighth-placed Tottenham Hotspur having three games in hand.
