Carlo Ancelotti has always been James Rodriguez’s biggest supporter and defender, and the Italian has plans to make Martin Odegaard his new James at Real Madrid.

Working under Carlo Ancelotti

James worked under Ancelotti at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and the pair shared a good relationship. Ancelotti tried his utmost to bring the Colombian to Napoli during his time there, but the move never came to be and instead they reunited at Everton.

Without James in his second spell at Los Blancos, Ancelotti has a plan to use Odegaard as he used to use the Colombian. The Norwegian is left-footed as well, and has incredible talent, vision and the ability to make a big difference in games. He has a knack for spotting tight holes in opposing defences and his set pieces are of the highest standard as well. At 22, he has a lot of room for improvement as well.

Nobody doubts that Odegaard has what it takes to shine under Ancelotti, and the Italian likes him a lot. The coach was also impressed by what he saw from the player as they coincided in the Premier League, albeit at different clubs.

A second chance for Odegaard

Odegaard now has the opportunity to become an important player at Real Madrid, something that Zinedine Zidane never afforded him.

He didn’t feel the Frenchman’s trust or confidence and, as a result, decided to leave in the winter. Now, though, he is being given another shot to start over at the club. Last season, Martin had a chance to play under Zinedine ZIdane. Unfortunately for Martin himself, Zidane said that he was not ready for Los Blancos starting line-up. Martin did not want to sit on the bench, so he left Real Madrid on loan. He was a good player in Arsenal but ready to make it even bigger. Carlo’s Real Madrid would be a perfect fit for Martin Odegaard.
