Mason Greenwood, a star for Man United, has had his police bail increased following accusations that he attacked and raped a young lady earlier this year.

Greenwood’s bail was extended after Greater Manchester Police (GMP) requested it at Manchester and Salford Magistrates.

After pictures and videos were uploaded online, the 20-year-old player was detained in January.

As he spent three nights in cells at a Greater Manchester police station, he was subsequently questioned on suspicion of uttering murderous threats.

Conditional bail was used to free Greenwood. This was first prolonged until mid-June and is now being continued.

After yesterday’s closed-door court session, the police did not say when it would expire.

A GMP spokesman stated: “Greater Manchester Police will not be giving any more information in regard to this matter until the suspect is charged or freed facing no further action.” She added that the decision of bail reviews “does not alter the pace of investigations.”

Social media rumors lately stated that the striker would not be prosecuted and instead face no more police action.

Although Greenwood continues to be suspended by the Old Trafford club, the police investigation is still underway.

Police detained Greenwood on 30 January after witnessing a lady expressing charges of physical assault and sexual threats on social media.

Officers had arrived to Greenwood’s £14,000 per month Bowdon property and were subsequently seen interrogating nearby residents.

The England international was first detained while being interrogated by cops on charges of raping and assaulting a woman.

Prior to being freed on bond, he was detained again on accusations of sexual assault and making threatening to murder his claimed victim.

Greenwood, a Bradford, West Yorks, native who attended the institution, afterward increased security at his residence.

He hired two private security guards to patrol the leased property, and a professional set up a home CCTV system with up to eight cameras that could record.

The player has been barred from participating in Man United’s practices and games indefinitely.

Greenwood’s sponsorship agreement with Nike was put on hold, then eventually discontinued, and Electronic Arts announced his withdrawal from the FIFA 22 game’s active squads.

For the first time since his arrest in early April, Greenwood was seen driving a black Mercedes and donning a Cartier balaclava throughout Cheshire.

In September 2020, he made his lone England debut against Iceland before being expelled for violating Covid rules.

Since then, Greenwood, who has 83 appearances for United and 22 goals, has not represented his nation.

On January 22, he made his final club debut in a 1-0 victory over West Ham.
