Mason Mount talks about Christian Pulisic’s success at Stamford Bridge
The American player’s transformation from a shy and retiring New Blue to a confident Captain America has earned praise from the Englishman, as the United States’ international community is now seen as an important asset at Stamford Bridge.
What did Mount say about Christian Pulisic?
The potential in Christian Pulisic’s game has always been clear to see, with the full unlock process still ongoing. Christian Pulisic, however, has spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge – and four with Borussia Dortmund before that – building confidence in his game that should allow him to overcome any questions of form and fitness at the highest level.
The US international has made 115 appearances for the Blues, scoring 25 goals along the way, and Mason claims to have noticed a noticeable shift in the player’s mentality during his time in English football. A member of Chelsea’s creative arm said during the club’s pre-season tour of the States that he remembers when he first stood up for this coach, when Mount thinks they were in Japan or Asia. According to Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic was pretty quiet, he was on his own at the time.
“When you get to know someone, they come out of their shell. It’s definitely something I’ve seen in the last couple of years,” Mason said. Mount says they can see the trust within him and it’s brilliant to see. Mason hopes that when they play each other in the World Cup, Christian Pulisic won’t be so sure of himself. Christian will face Mason in Qatar 2022 later this year, with the US placed in Group B for the World Cup final along with England.
Christian Pulisic obviously Captain America
With 51 caps to his name and an armband now very much at his disposal, the American has become a leader for his country. The hope is for Christian Pulisic to take a similar position at club level, with the Blues looking to make the most of their profile as they prepare to face Club America, Charlotte and the Gunner on American soil.
Mason Mount added that Christian Pulisic is at home, he’s back home and that’s how he knows everyone. They always push him to the front of the line when they go somewhere and say it’s his and he’s home, sir. Mount says they talk to everyone and Christian Pulisic is obviously Captain America so he loves it. And they’re all like a group, just being here and being able to train and shine. They work hard.
