Determined not to play second fiddle to Ramsdale, Matt Turner is ready to impress.
What did Matt Turner say?
US goaltender Matt Turner says he’s excited to make the move to the Gunners ahead of his expected transfer, with the player admitting he’s looking forward to not thinking of PL as some kind of mystical foreign land. The outgoing New England Revolution has agreed to travel to the Emirates Stadium in early 2022, with the 27-year-old rewarded with a move to Europe after his excellent form for both club and country over the past few seasons.
However, aware of his switch, the goalkeeper had to play a game of waiting to get to North London – and with his latest medical now looming, the player admits he feels surreal to make the move to one of England’s most tumultuous clubs.
USMNT goaltender Matt Turner said he was feeling well. Matt Turner says he feels extremely excited, obviously grateful for the opportunity to play for such a historic club with an amazing fan base. The American goalkeeper says it’s surreal so he looks forward to having his boots on the ground in the UK and working without thinking of it as a mystical foreign land and just goes there and puts the job in because that’s what he does best. According to Matt Turner, he will go there and work very, very hard.
His goalkeeping coach is here from London, his family is still there. Matt Turner has people he can rely on, people who can hold him accountable and come together to rip him off a bit. Matt Turner also said that he knows he’s going to have people he can rely on, so he’s not too worried about it.
Matt’s role at Arsenal
Matt appears to be arriving at the Emirates Stadium to fill the role already occupied by the undisputed first choice of Ramsdale. That would mean second fiddle to England, who have endured a tough Nations League campaign against the backdrop of a weary experimental Three Lions squad ahead of Qatar 2022. But as the player needs to fight for his place in the World Cup, he will be looking to become more than just a potential cup goalkeeper and could very well give Arteta a few headaches if his warning to his future team turns out to be true.
