Pochettino says he wants to continue with PSG because the difficulties ahead motivate any coach’ despite rumors after the club’s Champions League exit.

Mauricio Pochettino has a contract with PSG until the end of next season amid rumors that he may be removed after PSG’s poor Champions League campaign.

‘Before I indicated [that I want to stay] 100 % here,’ the 50-year-old coach said.

Today [as well], I say 100 percent]. My contract is up for renewal in a year. The obstacles are there, and any coach will be motivated by them”.

‘Of course, I want to continue indefinitely.’ PSG is a club with a lot of ambition. Because of the public’s ambition, the Champions League [elimination] is the worst letdown.’

Pochettino was also rumored to be on his way out following the revelation of Kylian Mbappe’s new deal, with broad changes anticipated to assist the French giants overcome yet another Champions League failure.

Leonardo, the sporting director, was sacked, and further changes were expected, including Mbappe’s possible exit, demonstrating Mbappe’s power on not only the PSG squad but the club as a whole.

Pochettino has been connected with Manchester United and his previous club Tottenham Hotspur, but both jobs have been filled, so he appears to be set to stay in France.

Despite a challenging year, Pochettino led PSG to their eleventh league title and the first of his managerial career.

However, he conceded earlier this month that winning the championship isn’t enough, adding, ‘The ambition is always to win the Champions League with a club like Paris Saint-Germain.’

‘The most crucial aspect is to strive to create something unique.’ The most essential thing is to take something away from the experience. This football team is preparing to compete.

‘It’s difficult with a club like PSG because the goals are so lofty, and when you win the league, it sometimes feels like it’s not enough.’

‘Of course, it isn’t enough for us since we want to win every single tournament we enter.’
