The Argentine manager and PSG are set to part ways this summer.

A little about the topic

The Ligue 1 champions decided a few weeks ago they wanted a change in manager, but before they can announce their new head coach, they need to offload their current one. The two sides are in talks over a release package that would release the former Tottenham head coach and allow the club to appoint a new manager.

Paris Saint-Germain are trying to dissuade Mauricio from the €15 million figure he should be given to break the contract. However, Mauricio Pochettino demands from the French side a fork in the entire amount of the fee that they are obliged to pay him. As part of this fee of €15m, it is expected that €3m will go to the coach’s background staff.

Among them are his assistant Perez, goalkeeping coach Jimenez, D’Agostino and his son, physical coach Sebastian. The Argentine insists that he and all his employees get what Paris Saint-Germain owes them. Negotiations between the parties are going well, but Pochettino is demanding that Paris Saint-Germain stay true to the contract they signed in January 2021 when they hired him to replace Tuchel. Negotiations are ongoing, but they are not expected to continue for much longer as the French side wants to announce their new coach as soon as possible.

Who will take the place of Mauricio Pochettino?

Several candidates have been named as possible successors to Mauricio. French manager Zidane has long been touted as the most likely candidate to take his place, but the former Real Madrid chief has fallen out of contention to take the hot seat at the Parc des Princes. Instead, the Frenchman Christophe Galtier became the most likely figure to take over at Paris Saint-Germain. Earlier this month, it was reported that the capital club were in talks with Nice over a deal with the coach and are entering into a personal deal with Christophe.
