Mauro Icardi lays claim to wellness at Paris Saint-Germain and has announced his intention to sign the Ligue 1 champions until 2024.

It was an honor for me

The Argentine International was dismantled by PSG on a full-time basis last summer after an initial impression on loan. There have been speculations that he may be on the move again in the next window as alternate hitting options line up at the Parc des Princes, but the 28-year-old wants to stay put. Icardi told the PSG official website about his experience in France: “When I arrived on loan, I did everything I could to be able to make a difference and help the team with my goals. It was a good year. So I was very happy that the club decided to take on the option with me and invite me to continue together for the next four years. It was an honor and a source of pride for me, as I said on the first day of my arrival in Paris. I feel good here, in a great team that wins trophies. This is what the player is looking for.”

Rumors keep on going

Rumors of interest in Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi continue to rage in the French capital, with six-time winner Ballon d ‘Or letting his contract escape to Camp Nou. PSG has also been linked to another Argentine goalscorer in uniform Sergio Aguero, with the ever-leading Manchester City surveyor another one heading to a free agency. There have been speculations that Kylian Mbappe might move on, leaving the attacking jetty open, but there are still efforts behind the scenes to tie him up under fresh conditions. Icardi has scored 27 goals for PSG in 53 appearances, but only seven have come this season. More is expected of him, but the presence of fellow countryman Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout should help his cause. Icardi added on the management change in Paris: The arrival of the new coach was good for the squad, and for me who speaks Spanish it was an added bonus! We can communicate better and speak differently.
